Buried in Treasures – (Virtual Class) – Help for people with hoarding problems

Hoarding is a serious problem that affects the safety and life of the person with hoarding problems, as well as their family members and pets.

Hoarding is a very isolating problem. Hoarding knows no limits. It affects more people than most people realize. But there is hope. Help is available for people with hoarding problems.

With the many changes that have occurred in the last five months, a virtual build-up workshop has been launched allowing people from all over the world to participate. Anywhere at any time!

The 16-week “Buried in Treasures” working group is a highly structured group that combines CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) with organization practices and advice in a support group setting.

The show uses the book of the same name and is based on the work of Drs. Tolin, Frost and Steketee, the country’s leading hoarding experts. The group allows people to share their experiences, thereby building trust and allowing participants to begin the process of understanding how they got into their situation and beginning the healing process.

The workshop is more than disorder. It’s about overcoming challenges, increasing motivation and reducing acquisition. The clutter has gotten in the way of how the participants want to live their lives. They are overwhelmed, ashamed and isolated. They want to change, but they don’t know how. They want help, but they don’t know where to get it.

The show requires participants to dig deep within themselves and be honest about how they got to where they are. It is an emotional journey. One that most people on the show might not have expected. There are weekly tasks that they are expected to complete. Starting with reading a chapter of the book, practice cleaning, traveling without shopping, and more.

The “Buried in Treasures” group enables people to get the help they want and need, without shame. It is a life changing experience. When participants leave the program they feel empowered to continue making changes.

It’s a long program, but when it’s over, the participants don’t want to leave. They have bonded, they have learned more about themselves in the 16 weeks than they ever realized. They are empowered to make changes and are ready to start a new chapter in their life. A chapter that does not include hoarding.
