Why choose a custom kitchen design?

If you want to remodel a kitchen in a hurry and on a tight budget, custom kitchen design is almost certainly not the best idea for you. However, the popularity of these as an option is increasing. There is often a very good reason why people choose to do things if they take longer or cost more than the more common options.

Only

Custom kitchen design is completely unique. It is designed to fit your style and needs, as well as the size and shape of your room. No two kitchens are exactly the same, even if you choose the same materials.

There are so many options from how the cabinets are placed to the materials they are made from. You can ensure that the design and style is just what you’ve always wanted, and not just what’s available to you at the moment. Certain features of custom kitchen design are simply not available in pre-built versions. For example, in a corner cabinet is not the best use of space in most cases. Instead, you could have a cabinet stocked with vegetable baskets or a lazy Susan that retreats when you open the door. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a space that you can’t access.

Alternatively, you can have a hinged door in the corner so that the whole space opens up. These spaces are particularly useful for large kitchen equipment like pots and pans, and you won’t end up with a corner you have to crawl into to use them.

functional

When shopping for prefab kitchens, they won’t necessarily be the best design to fit the shape and size of your room. In a smaller room, for example, you may not need the cabinets to be as deep as you would in a larger space, and you may not even have the space for this in the first place. More shallow cabinets will fit better and give you more living space on the floor.

Affordable

It may sound counterintuitive, but in reality, custom kitchen design is much cheaper than buying off-the-shelf cabinets. When you buy off-the-shelf products, they are designed to be cost-effective and therefore made from lower quality materials, with production being a process rather than an art. It’s like buying bookshelves from Ikea (famous for their mass production and low cost) and expecting them to last as long as a comparable product hand-carved by a cabinetmaker. They are just different things.

A custom kitchen design is designed and built to last. You won’t need to replace doors or surfaces because they will last for years. By purchasing quality products, you will obviously have to deal with higher upfront costs, but you will end up with a much more attractive and much more durable fitted kitchen.
