The Mini Pacman: Review

The Mini Paceman is the coupe version of the Mini Countryman. It has the same wheelbase and this niche vehicle is expected to do well with younger drivers.

What are the advantages of the new Mini Paceman over the regular Mini hatchback? Space is one of the first things you notice when you see this new model. The Paceman is practical but loses nothing in its appearance as the design is sleek and stylish.

The new car has as much room as a Countryman, although it sits a bit lower to the ground. As always, BMW offers a wide range of engines and specifications, starting with the entry-level Cooper and working its way up to the John Cooper Works model.

The handling is not as good as the hatchback, but if you use the sport mode, you can get better performance from the car. Inside the cabin there is plenty of space for such a small car and the head and leg room is very impressive. This is especially true in the rear, where the seats are slightly lower than the front. This provides better headroom for taller passengers.

BMW reckons the Paceman is the second most practical Mini model, only slightly behind the Countryman. With the seats folded you get 1,080 liters of luggage space and this is just 90 liters less than its stablemate. The trunk opens upwards giving maximum cargo space.

Access to the rear seats is slightly compromised by the fact that this is a three-door model and the car can only carry a maximum of four people. The Paceman isn’t cheap, but compared to the Range Rover Evoque, its main rival, it’s around half the price.

Automotive magazines are betting that Paceman purchases will be guided by both emotion and sensibility. This may be true, but on the credit side, Minis have always had and will continue to have strong resale values.

The Mini brand is well loved and many people will always want a Mini as their car of choice. BMW doesn’t flood the market with new models and a limited number of Pacemans are being built, so this will also help make the car more desirable. The best value for fuel economy and performance is the Cooper SD which returns 57.6 mpg and will go from 0 to 62 mph in 9.2 seconds.

The Mini brand is well-loved, and Mini owners are fans of keeping their cars in tip-top condition. Purchasing a set of floor mats for the Mini Paceman will help keep your car clean and make your journeys much more comfortable.

Many new vehicles are not sold with floor mats and are usually an expensive add-on sold by the supplier. However, when it comes to selling the Mini, the buyer expects original or at least bespoke, custom-made floor mats.
