The features and applications of touch screen monitors

The touch screen monitor system was introduced in 1971 by Dr. Samuel. It caused a boom since it was available in the market. Some devices are designed with a touch screen, which is very convenient, such as ATMs, ticket machines, and telephones.

Phones with this system are the most popular among all devices. People tend to acquire more information in less time. Smartphones with this system meet your needs. It is larger than the normal screen, which makes it ideal for playing games or watching a movie. This system on the phone is also suitable for the elderly who cannot write the words with the keyboard, but can send a short message with the stylus. Owning a touchscreen phone can make you fashionable and confident.

To achieve the goal of simple operation, mouse and keyboards are replaced by the device in some contexts. When the machine is in working condition, we touch the touch screen with fingers or other objects, and then it will input the information according to the icon we touch or menu position. A touch screen consists of a sensing device and a controller. The detection device is fixed in front of the display screen, which is applied to check the position touched by the user and deliver it to the controller after receipt. The controller is used to receive the touch information and transmit it to the CPU; meanwhile, the controller can receive and complement the instructions from the CPU.

It can be divided into four different types based on its working principle and means of delivering information. The types of touch screens are resistive, capacitive, infrared and acoustic wave.

Resistive systems are the most versatile; however, multiple layers prevent the monitor from transmitting light and screens are easily scratched, while capacitive systems allow the monitor to transmit more light. Capacitive systems can withstand the wet and dirty environment, making it suitable for outdoor use. Surface acoustics are more accurate than other systems, making it ideal for laboratory application. Infrared touch screens are more durable and take longer to respond.

However, each type of system has its own advantages and disadvantages. The key to understanding the occasions when different devices are used is to know the characteristics and principles. Related IC for touch screen monitor is TA78M24S
