How to paint landscapes perfectly

Landscape painting is the most beautiful natural scenery in the world. So learning to paint landscapes is an exciting and indeed emotionally satisfying experience. Imagine trying to capture a river flowing against a mountain or capturing a sunrise at its scenic best or whatever is natural. Well, there are no limits to this art form.

The most important factor in landscape painting is painting outdoors. This will keep your mind open and you will be at your talented prime. Choose the paint medium you are going to use. Oil painting is highly preferred for the landscape, but you can also use watercolor or acrylic paint. Select the surface you are going to paint on. It can be stretched canvas, canvas paper or acrylic paper or paper used for watercolor depending on the painting medium. You also need small, large and medium size brushes.

Primary and secondary colors: Let me tell you about the colors. Red, blue, and yellow are the primary colors. They are called primary colors because they are original and cannot be made by mixing or mixing other colors. However, secondary colors like green, brown, purple, maroon, crimson, orange, etc. They can be made by mixing the primary colors in specific combinations. This is called a color wheel and an artist can use these colors creatively to achieve the desired effect in a landscape painting, especially by learning to paint mist. For example, for a vibrant effect, add more color and for a soft effect, combine another color to lighten it.

Painting medium: A beginner or novice learning to paint a landscape is recommended to use watercolors or acrylic paint as both are water soluble, inexpensive, and easy to use. Painters or more advanced professionals may choose to use oil paint.

Canvas board or canvas paper: Again, to begin with, it would be advisable to use canvas paper or cardboard instead of a stretch canvas. The only point to keep in mind is not to use too much water or too much paint, as this causes the canvas to wrinkle or sag and ruin the painting.

Brushes: Large, medium and small brushes are required. Large brushes are used to paint broad strokes that cover a larger area. The small ones are used for detailed painting or fine, thin strokes and the medium is used to fill in and cover relatively smaller areas of the painting.

Use your imagination as you learn to paint a landscape to select a good subject, be it a landscape, what you see around you or what you feel our surroundings should look like, be it the sun, the moon, the earth, the mountain, the river, the valley or whatever. Practice and patience make perfect. It doesn’t matter how long it takes to finish your landscape painting, as long as the finished product is beautiful to the viewer.
