How to draw Chris Redfield

Chris Redfield is the animated protagonist of the famous Resident Evil video game series. Although he is a fictional character, his popularity makes him a star in his own right. Resident Evil is an action-packed game series. For this reason, Chris Redfield usually appears in an ‘operation’ with his protective suit and weapons. He usually carries a pistol or an automatic assault rifle along with the cartridges and artillery. Chris Redfield’s artistic adaptation is a complex work, mainly due to his elaborate stances of attraction and action. To make your job easier, take the following steps to run your job:

• Model work. For a complex character like Chris Redfield, you just have to be careful to get a picture. Choose the model very carefully, taking into account the difficulty levels. A closer view or a full image contains fine detail and is more difficult to draw. You can also remove or simplify the background of your reference image. The Internet contains a large collection of his images, offering a wide range of options.

• Scale. Depending on the size of your drawing area, you can enlarge or reduce the reference image. It is important to study the relative proportions of the various parts of the original artwork. Import the same proportions in your portrait.

• Contours. Divide the frame into convenient horizontal sections, such as the head, torso, legs, etc. Take one segment at a time identifying the basic geometric shapes involved. For example, take an oval for the face, angular lines for the limbs, etc. Use freehand drawings for the torso and upper legs. If your image portrays the face closely, create a frame for the facial feature as well. For example, a pair of horizontal lines represent the position and size of the eyes.

• Details and differentiating factors. For any component of the design, start drawing from the outermost limits and work inward. For example, start with curves for the ears and proceed to add the internal details. Take a top-down approach to adding details. Address the head region first. Draw the eyes, followed by the nose and lips. Chris Redfield wears his hair short and cropped, making it a simpler part to draw. He has a tough masculine face that tapers slightly. He has a well-built muscular body. He is known for his exceptional biceps. He wears military pants, knee pads, leather gloves, bulletproof vest, and belted weaponry.

• Shading. Shading plays an important role in this portrait. Use straight, angular or curved pencil strokes to create the effect of light and highlight certain key elements. Use pencils of varying hardness, such as HB, B, 2B, and 3B to obtain the desired results. Apply a blending tool to even out the visible pencil strokes. In the case of a color drawing, graduated shades of colors are used to produce shading. Take care to apply Chris Redfield’s signature dress colors, namely gray, black, and army green.
