Hockey – Skating backwards faster

Many hockey players find it difficult to accelerate, maneuver, and balance while skating backwards. There is a small change in your body mechanics that could help eliminate this problem for good in your skating. Most hockey players have a hard time adapting and acting or reacting in different directions while skating backwards. This is because your body is moving upward, whether it’s skating backward or adjusting or changing direction.

Note that once you get up in your stance while skating backwards, you will lose your balance, speed, and have a more difficult time acting or reacting to skating in different directions. The main reason this happens is that your center of gravity (which is your hips) will rise and this will counteract your speed, balance and power.

This is the way all hockey players skate backwards:

1. They tend to rise up into their posture and this action will eliminate their knees from bending to the proper level.
2. When this happens, the skating speed slows down.
3. It also slows down action and reaction to allow them to move quickly and with proper balance in different directions.

Here is the information that will eliminate this problem forever:

1. Make sure both shoulders are pressing down firmly. Make sure you don’t strain your shoulders … they should press down firmly.
2. This action of pressing down on both shoulders will connect your upper body to your center of gravity in the most natural way.
3. It will help you maintain the proper speed, balance and power, and at the same time you will be able to react faster by skating backwards.

You may think this simple exercise is too simple, but it is the only way to maximize your body mechanics and give you the perfect backward skating posture.

Check:

You just have to make sure that both shoulders are pressing down firmly and it will correct any possible errors in your body mechanics while skating backwards.
