Disney Infinity Trailer

infinity disney was one of the most popular booths at E3 this year. It could be that they were giving away t-shirts or the action figures that you might wear when the game launches, but I have a feeling people were curious to play it too. Basically, Disney wants a piece of Activision skylanders cake. As you probably know, in skylanders You have action figures that you can level up in the game and you can take them to your friend’s house and play with your characters there. It’s a really cool idea and it hasn’t been questioned for two years. With recognizable brands and almost limitless potential for new gaming experiences, Disney could really give skylanders a run for his (and your) money.

I had to skip most of the line because instead of standing on the infinity disney booth I checked out their demo booth at Nintendo’s. All of my hands on time with the demo were on Nintendo’s Wii U. That being said, the game didn’t really take advantage of the unique features that the system could bring with its Gamepad. This was a bit disappointing considering all of its potential, but that’s another can of worms. What I experienced was a fun beat-em-up experience set in the Disney Universe.

The gameplay is surprisingly similar to skylanders: not exactly deep or fascinating, but it was entertaining. Story mode has you play through levels called Playsets. You can select the level based on the toy piece you place on the scanner (such as the portal in skylanders). For example, when he was playing in a The IncrediblesPlayset, was limited to incredible characters. Which, sadly, is very limiting, but there’s a lot more to it than just games to play.

The meat and potatoes of this game is the level editor which is appropriately called Toy Box. In this, you can create custom levels for you and your characters to play. In the E3 2013 trailer, you can find that it is possible to create unique game modes with your friends. You could take it from sports or maybe even make your own version of a classic Mario scenario. That’s one of the main reasons why I think infinity disney It will be a great success this year.

A little problem I could see with PlentyToy Box mode is that it gives you almost TOO MANY options and can be difficult for a younger player to make their own level. The demo showed older gamers creating complicated game modes and cities to move around with their characters. I guess it’s a good problem when one of the main problems with your game is that it has too many customization options. It seemed easy enough to set everything up and get it working, so I’m sure younger audiences won’t have a problem at least to start with. Also, I saw Sully from monsters inc Use Buzz Lightyear’s jet pack. That’s great.

infinity disney already has an advantage over skylanders in its strong selection of brands. Disney has arguably the most recognizable characters in the world. From Mickey Mouse to Wreck it Ralph, there will be no shortage of playable heroes or villains for this game. When I asked one of the disney: infinity‘s spokesman if there will ever be a chance to see Star Wars or Marvel characters in the game, he gave me a polite nod and said, “Wouldn’t that be something?” Take what you will from this, but it seems to me that this could very well be a possibility in the future. I would love to see Boba Fett hang out with Woody from Toy Story.

I was also struck by the gorgeous art style they chose for the game. Somehow, all the characters seem to belong to the same universe. They all have cartoon looks and fit in amazingly well. Even characters from Disney’s live-action movies look cool, from the Lone Ranger to Captain Jack Sparrow. The levels also look beautiful; it was often bright and vivid and everything had a spark of Disney charm. It was hard not to get nostalgic.

From what I’ve seen infinity disney I was impressed. It’s one of those few rare games that seems appropriate for any member of the family. It even has online cooperative play, something that has mysteriously been left out of the skylanders franchise. It will be interesting to see how many characters they will release in the future and how much everything will cost. yes it is more or less the same price skylanders force swapthis holiday season could turn ugly for holiday lists.
