Body Cream Product Review for Bodycology Vanilla Amber Musk

Bodycology was founded in Dallas in 2003. It claims to be among the fastest growing companies in the US, is not tested on animals, and is for women who want spa-quality beauty products without the price tag. I think it’s also inspired by The Body Shop or Bath & Body Works line. The latter is more suitable I guess.

In Indonesia, Bodycology exacts its price of success. The products are being priced competitively in a market where Bath & Body Works is listed as a cult, especially since people are getting sick of The Body Shop’s product choices. Bodycology appeals to mid-tier consumers who want a more luxurious alternative to the local body lotion without paying a luxury price tag. I mean, well, it won’t be as cheap as your local Nivea, Vaseline, or Citra body lotions. Just saying, it’s less than half the price of The Body Shop products with almost the same quality.

Vanilla Amber Musk Body Cream is one of the most beautiful among all Bodycology body cream options. FYI, they have exactly a dozen scented body cream options.

Vanilla Amber Musk is primarily vanilla. Well, we already knew that. But, there is a slight hint of coconut that gives it its creaminess. However, it doesn’t tend to be too sweet, instead it is seductive and clean due to the amber and skin musk. However, amber is a bit heavy.

How about the texture? Now this is getting interesting. It is for oily and dry skin alike. It is thick and creamy with a smoothness that resembles whipped cream. But, while ordinary body cream tends to be warmer when applied to the skin as a result of the lanolin ingredients, Vanilla Amber Musk cools the skin on application. I checked the ingredient list, shea butter and aloe vera are listed. Of course, it’s still not paraben free. Well, I can’t expect mass market cream and lotion to be paraben-free, meaning no chemical preservatives, right?

Oh, by the way, I forgot to tell you that this cream has a beautiful and strong aroma at the same time. And, somehow, it’s a bit annoying to the people around us. I received many comments, all of them were negative. For example, my dear husband said that it was scented like a funeral balm. Mom said she gave her a big headache. A friend gave him a look of contempt. But, it’s great, isn’t it? (LOL) I mean we need a little attention these days, right?

PS I visited the Bodycology website today and found out that Vanilla Amber Musk is discontinued. Instead, it has been given a new name Vanilla Romance. I bet the smell is the same, although the picture on the tube is totally different. Out of curiosity, since the old Vanilla Amber Musk is still selling a lot in Indonesia, does this mean that once again our country is a permissive market full of discontinued products? What about the expiration date that affects the condition of the creams? I probably don’t know the answers. But instead, beware! I warned you to buy this type of product with caution. Take care of yourself!
