Berry Smoothie for Candida Control Diet

When you are on a Candida control diet, you are limited in what types of foods you can eat. You are not allowed to consume sugar or anything that turns into sugar, such as simple carbohydrates and most fruits. It’s important to have a healthy breakfast that fills you up, doesn’t leave you feeling deprived, and for me, satisfies your sweet tooth. This smoothie recipe ticks all of those boxes and keeps me full for several hours. Although you must strictly follow the Candida Diet for the first six weeks, I highly recommend this shake as part of your daily routine because it’s that delicious.

I used to make smoothies with fruit juice and various types of frozen fruits. Since only frozen berries are safe on the candida diet, i can still have my shakes, but now i use almond milk to dilute them. You can taste the almond flavor. Goat milk yogurt is available at Trader Joe’s. This recipe makes about 1 1/2 cups of smoothie. I drink a glass, then put the rest in the fridge to drink in a couple of hours.

5-6 frozen strawberries

1C goat’s milk yogurt

1 tablespoon. ground flax meal

1-2 tablespoons almond butter

almond milk

1 scoop of whey protein powder (non-soy and gluten-free)

Add everything to the blender except the protein powder, adding enough almond milk to thin the mixture a bit but leaving the shake quite thick. It will keep you full longer if it is thicker. When the strawberries are pulverized, run the blender while you add the protein powder. Serves 1.
