A complete and complete information guide related to Palma, Mallorca, Spain

Palma De Mallorca is the capital city of Majorca (Majorca), the largest of the Balearic Islands.

Palma de Mallorca has its own beauty and charm. Approaching the city from the Port, on foot or by car, the Cathedral (La Seu) is instantly recognizable, an immense sandstone building of magnificent architectural design (French Gothic) with a huge stained glass window containing 1,236 pieces of stained glass. At night Palma Cathedral is beautifully illuminated. It’s worth a visit. There are also many other historic places, Bellver Castle, La Lonja, the Museo de Mallorca, the Palau de Almundaina to name a few, the ruins of the 10th century Arab Baths are also in the historic area (see below for prices and opening hours).

The Port and the Marina extend throughout the entire city. and this is a complete labyrinth of small boats, large yachts and even cruise ships. In recent years, Palma has proven to be a very popular destination for cruise ships of all sizes to dock for one or two days. The number of large cruise ships that visited Mallorca between January and November 2010 was 500, breaking all previous records. In fact, 1.5 million visitors are expected in 2011. This has increased tourism in Palma considerably. Along the port road there are many restaurants and bars, as well as popular nightclubs such as Titos. Other nightclubs include Pacha, Garito Club, Jahfarai, L’Havanna to name a few. See other nightclubs in Mallorca.

In Palma you will also find the very famous Spanish department store El Corte Inglés. There are two, both in the city, the largest is on Avenida Alexandre Rosselló and the other on Avenida Jaime (Jaume) III, right next to C&A, yes, the store that disappeared in Britain many years ago is still operational in Palma de Mallorca! You will also find stores like Cartier, Boss, Zara & H&M. Consult our complete guide to shopping in Mallorca

Why not stroll through the many ancient alleys that stretch from Plaza de España, the train station, to Avenida Jaime (Jaume) III? Within these quaint little streets are plenty of bars, cafes, designer boutiques, something for everyone. If you are hungry, we recommend you to have lunch in one of the many cafes or restaurants menu of the day where you can have a two or three course lunch with wine, water/lemonade for a very low price (10-15 euros) or enjoy dinner, we guarantee that you will have many options to choose where to eat.

Car rental is readily available at the airport or from the tourist centers.

If you are going to stay more than one day in Palma de Mallorca, we recommend a visit to Portixol. You can get there on foot along the promenade from Palma or take a short taxi ride. This is a little paradise, which is located on the west side when you approach the city of Palma from the airport by car. This original fishing port (El Molinar) has a lot of charm and character of its own, restaurants and bars and a strip with elegant restaurants serving a variety of cuisine, from Japanese food to Italian food.

If you are unlucky enough to visit Palma in bad weather, visit Porto Pi, a beautiful indoor mall full of shops, cafes and bars (but mostly shops!). Also Carrefour is on the ground floor. This is a large hypermarket that sells just about anything you can imagine at very reasonable prices.

Try the Bar Marítimo on the Paseo Marítimo (first line), near La Lonja for a coffee or some traditional tapas, they also have a daily menu.
