Your Guide to Penn State Vs Alabama Gaming Weekend

The main game of Penn State’s football season in 2010 is the Alabama game on September 11 in Tuscaloosa. This is a dream matchup not only for Penn State fans, but also for Alabama fans and college football fans in general. Not only are these programs historic, but they have many other intriguing components: legendary coaches, great teams, incredible uniforms, and excellent lectures.

If you’re planning to take a road trip to this game, and if you’re a true Penn State fan, you probably are, we’ve got some of the critical information you need for your Alabama game weekend. We’ve spoken to a few sources in Alabama (both Bama fans and SEC fans traveling there), and we’ve got some of the information you need to get the most out of this fantastic road trip.

First, of course, you need tickets. Tickets to Penn State in Alabama will be one of the toughest football ticket games to come by in a long time. If you’re a big donor to the PSU alumni club, you may already be getting your tickets through the University, but for the rest of us who are not, there are fortunately other options.

We highly recommend looking online for your Penn State vs Alabama game tickets. The most popular place to buy tickets today tends to be eBay, but there are also many other online auction sites and specialty sites for college football tickets or Penn State game tickets. If you search hard enough, you can usually find the right seat type for you, based on price range, seat location, or other important factors like a parking pass.

Next, when it comes to your trip to Bama game weekend, you need to decide whether you are going to base your camp in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham. We recommend Birmingham primarily for the quality of the accommodation. There are far more quality hotels in Birmingham than in Tuscaloosa. Note that B’ham is about 45 minutes from Tuscaloosa (where the University of Alabama is), and has a lot, if not more, to do than T-town.

So if you are in Birmingham then you will know what to do on the weekend. The simple answer is: Birmingham Southside! This is the part of town to go to for fun and craziness, with many restaurants and bars. You’ll hear people talking about going to the Galleria part of town, and that’s okay, but a little more generic and not as unique as Southside experience.

Once game day rolls around, of course, you’ll want to move on. Since game time is not until 6pm, there is plenty of time, but we recommend going to Tuscaloosa first thing in the morning. It will take a long time to get there with the traffic and you want to get a good parking spot. So don’t plan on leaving B’ham at the last minute.

Upon arriving in T-town, look for parking on the streets, courtyards, and lots on the south side of the stadium. Many of the houses in this area are student rented houses and will allow you to park for something like $ 20. It works well and will bring you closer to the action.

This should be a classic showdown and a fabulous soccer road trip weekend for Penn State fans! Have fun!
