WoW Priest Guide – Shadows and Light

The Priest class is considered one of the best healing classes in World of Warcraft. However, priests can also be good damage dealers. If you choose to play this class, you will be able to choose between different races. If you’re playing horde, the choice of races when it comes to the Priest class will fall on Trolls, Undead, and Blood Elves.

If you play the role of Alliance, you can choose between a human, dwarf, night elf, and draenei race. Depending on the race you choose, you will have different passive abilities, but the choice will surely depend on you and the way you play.

A Priest is a real mana drainer, whether you choose to play a healer or a dps caster and therefore will need a lot of spirit which will help you regenerate mana much faster, intellect which will give you a higher amount of mana and of course a lot of spell power.

When it comes to talent trees, Priests have different talent trees to choose from depending on their game: Holy, Discipline, and Shadow. The sacred tree is perfect for a typical healer. As a holy priest, you will have different types of spells to choose from such as Renew which is a typical HoT (Heal Over Time) spell, Prayer of Mending which is an instant protection and healing spell, Prayer of Healing which heals everything the group, Circle of Healing, which is a typical AoE healing spell, and of course, Flash and Greater Healing.

Shadow Priests are famous for their Shadow form, which not only looks interesting, but also gives a Shadow Priest more spell power. Most of their spells are instant and they are famous for their DoT (Damage Over Time) Shadow Word Pain spell. They are also highly valued in raids and groups, not only because they can deal a lot of damage, but also for their ability to heal and return mana to party members.

Priests who are more interested in PvP gameplay will definitely choose the Discipline tree. Combined with healing and protective spells and more resistant equipment, they are sure to be unbeatable on the battlefields or in the arenas.

Priests are also famous for their buffs: Power Word Fortitude, Spirit buff, and Shadow Protection. They can also resurrect, dispel magic and disease, mass dispel, chain undead, fear targets, burn mana, etc. What’s nice when it comes to resetting aggro is the ability to fade, but in general a Priest shouldn’t get much aggro since he’s always behind, whether he’s a healer or a damage dealer.

When it comes to armor, Priests are pure cloth wearers, which means that their armor is made solely of cloth. They don’t have as many hit points as other classes, but they definitely have a large mana pool. If a Priest chooses to become a Shadow, he will need to have certain stats on his equipment. He needs to have a lot of spell power, spirit, intellect, hit rating and critical hit rating. For holy priests it’s similar, but for them haste rate is much more important than hit or crit rate.

Leveling up a priest might be a little slower at first and it’s recommended to level up a priest as Shadow. When you get Shadow Form somewhere around level 40, things will start to go much faster and at higher levels. been a necessity in World of Warcraft.
