World of Warcraft Tactics: How to Kill Professor Putricide

Professor Putricide Tactics and Strategy – Phase 1 Overview

Professor Putricide is the final boss in the Plagueworks section of Icecrown Citadel, this guide will give you an overview of his abilities and the tactics and strategies you can use to defeat him. The mechanics of this encounter are based on 3 phases, in the first two your Off Tank will take control of an Abomination using the table behind Professor Putricide. As long as this Abomination is active, the entire raid will take constant damage, so make sure you have a decent raid healer in your lineup. The transition between phases is marked by Professor Putricide who stuns the entire raid team with a debuff called “tear gas” and he gobbles potions off his table.

IMPORTANT: you only have 10 attempts to complete this encounter

Professor Putricide will throw piles of mucus near random players that will cause damage if any player stands on them, that’s where the abomination comes in, it’s Off Tanks’ job to make the abomination eat the piles of mucus, which will also give him gives his abomination 4 energy points. .

During phase 1 and phase 2, Professor Putricide will summon two types of additions alternately. They always appear in the same place where they are summoned using their lab equipment, the two types of additions are Volatile Snot that appear on the north side of the room and Gas Clouds that appear in the south.

Volatile snot will root a player and start running towards them, they absolutely MUST be bombarded before they reach that player, otherwise they will explode for 70k damage shared between all players within 10 yards range, this explosion causes a throwback effect.

The Gas Clouds will again target 1 player and run towards him, but this time they will receive a debuff that applies 10 stacks of Gaseous Bloat. It will tick for a small amount of damage every 2 seconds and a stack of Gaseous Bloat will drop from the stack. These gas clouds must not, under any circumstances, allow them to reach their target, otherwise they will activate a large area of effect damage. The amount of AoE damage will depend on how many stacks of Gaseous Bloat are left on the player when the gas cloud hits its target, if there is a large amount of stacks then you can expect some serious pain.

The Off Tanks Abomination has another ability that will help you deal with additions. Regurgitated Mucus will slow the target by 50% and deal damage. This is the key to controlling aggregates, make sure your Off Tank is ready for aggregation and has eaten enough piles of mucus so you can release regurgitated mucus as soon as they appear.

The boss will also start dropping gas bombs, throwing two at a time and at random intervals. Just make sure you don’t stand on them, they’re pretty simple to avoid, but they do a fair amount of damage if activated.

Professor Putricide Tactics and Strategy – Phase 2 Overview

In phase 2, Professor Putricide will do all the abilities as in phase 1, but he also gains Malleable Goo where he basically throws slime through the air towards the area where a player was standing. It’s important to get out of the way, otherwise you can expect around 15k damage and reduce your attack and cast speed by 200% for 15 seconds.

Professor Putricide Tactics and Strategy – Phase 3 Overview

During this phase, you gain all the abilities from Phase 1 AND Phase 2. Basically, this is now a race against time to get killed before it kills you. Putricide will once again stun the entire raid and gobble up their potions to enter phase 3 with a buff called Mutated Force that will increase their attack speed and power by 50%. Every melee attack made against the boss from your tank will give your tank a debuff called Mutated Plague. This will start to do large amounts of damage and stacks, the more stacks, the greater the damage. It is at this point that your Off Tank needs to drop its Abomination and switch Putricide tanks and the DPS race begins. If you are not fast enough, you will be killed by the piles of mucus that are now growing and are no longer being eaten by the abomination. The good news is that NO MORE AGGREGATES will appear in phase 3.

Professor Putricide tactics and strategy: execution

1. Make your main tank initiate the pull, all your raid gear should be on the south side of the room, as the first aggregate will ALWAYS appear from the north and will ALWAYS be a volatile Mucus. Have your Off Tank grab an Abomination and start eating the piles of mucus the boss is throwing away. Once the Volatile Mucus spawns, the Off Tank must use the abomination to cast Regurgitated Ooze on it and the ranged DPS should immediately destroy the addition.

2.Have your team switch sides of the room and be ready for the next addition to the spawn (gas cloud) and repeat the Regurgitated Ooze and Nuke steps. If you don’t get the addition fast enough to make the change before the next one appears, you will have to heal as much as possible, but whatever happens, you MUST swap the ends of the room.

3. Make sure your team is very mobile, dodging the piles of mucus while the Off Tank uses the Abomination to eat them, the Off Tank MUST hold enough energy for the Abomination to use the regurgitated mucus on the aggregates, but any leftover energy will be You can use it on the boss if you have time.

4. Make your ranged gear stack on top of each other in case one of the volatile snot hits its target and explodes, this will ensure the damage is spread long enough for people to survive if in good health.

5. You will need to reduce the health of the bosses to 80% to start Phase 2.

Keep moving from one end to the other in the room depending on the next spawn, however at this point there is even more restricted movement due to the malleable goo.

7) At 30% health the boss will progress to Phase 3, at this point the Off Tank should have cleared as many Mucus Stacks as possible and then spent all the Abomination energy on the boss before releasing the Abomination and get ready for the tank swap on Professor Putricide.

8. We recommend switching tanks with 4 stacks of Mutated Plague, otherwise you run the risk of the raid being overwhelmed by damage. You will need a skilled and timely tank change for this phase and it is at this point that ALL remaining cooldowns need to be burned and Bloodlust used.

9. Loot and enjoy. This boss will most likely require some practice, a lot of positioning, and a lot of raiding movement to consider when building your team.
