Getting a job with a felony on your record can be very difficult, as you probably already know. Criminal jobs are hard to come by and most companies will not hire a criminal. Those that do generally don’t pay very well. I have compiled a list of the top 10 jobs for criminals. Helpful Hint: If your felony is older than 7 years, most states do not allow background checks to be that old. If your state has this law, you can answer ‘no’ on an application.

Job #10 – UPS Delivery Driver

UPS is known to hire criminals. They have moderate salaries and it is a stable job to have.

#9 Work – Join the Army

The military accepts people with criminal records, depending on the crime. Contact a recruiter to see if you qualify to join.

#8 Job – Trucker

Many trucking companies are willing to hire criminals. You will most likely need to obtain a trucking license.

#7 Work – Start your own business

You can start your own business. One idea is to go to school to be a locksmith and start your own company. Also consider getting a barber’s license.

Job #6 – Telephone Customer Service

Many companies are willing to hire criminals for customer service over the phone, because they are not dealing with people in person.

#5 Work – Temporary Agency

Temporary employment agencies can occasionally find a good job for you. Many times it will be day work, so keep yourself in good physical shape.

#4 Work – Family business

See if you can work at a family member’s or friend’s business. They will be happy to hire you if you are willing to work hard. They will probably be happy to help you recover.

Job #3 – Independent Contractor

Many people will continue to use your services as long as you get the job done. If you work hard, it doesn’t matter that you have a felony on your record.

Job #2: Privately Owned Small Businesses

Some business chains have rules against accepting criminals. Small business owners are more likely to accept it. They will take more of a “risk” in hiring employees, and may be more personal with the business owner.

This is the best job for a felon as it requires no exams, be it background checks, drug tests, etc. Everyone is accepted, and you work on your own time and can work as much or as little as you want. ‘GPT’ or ‘Get-Paid-To’ online services offer a great way to earn a few hundred dollars a month without spending a lot of time working. There are many GPT services available, some better than others. My experience with GPT services has been excellent and I recommend it as the best job on my top 10 jobs for criminals list.
