Selling on Ebay: do you need to open a Paypal account on eBay?

Have you ever wondered if I should use Paypal to accept payments on eBay?

If you’ve ever looked at a listing on eBay, chances are the seller is using Paypal as one of their payment methods. So should I consider opening an account as well so I can sell using this method?

Paypal is one of the most popular payment methods on eBay today. Probably because it’s so easy to set up and allows shoppers to pay each other securely online. The buyer feels safe because they are not giving their credit card or bank details directly to the seller, and the seller receives payment immediately.

It is very easy to set up an account. If you only plan on listing a few things then it’s probably best to set up a personal account for now, you can always upgrade to the business account at a later stage if you find your eBay business is increasing.

Once your account is set up, you will need to verify it; otherwise, you will be limited in the amount of money you can send or withdraw from them. It also makes things a lot more difficult if you’re trying to list your item to sell internationally. Getting verified is a simple process, once you have set up your account including your bank details Paypal will deposit a small amount of money into your account, then you need to let them know how much money they have put in so they can confirm that it really is your account. You will also need to tell them your phone number and address.

Once that’s set up, simply check the option on the eBay sellers page that you’d like your buyer to have the option to pay you via Paypal, fill in your relevant details and you’re done! Easy. Of course, it also helps that eBay owns Paypal, which makes the whole process a lot easier.
