Novation Launchpad Pro FL Studio

Since Launchpad was officially launched in the year 2009, there have been several revamps to Novation Launchpad. However, the newly designed Launchpad Pro is the first to feel like a genuine upgrade. In more than six years, MIDI controllers have become more innovative, while on the other hand mobile apps have reduced the need to own a physical controller. For over a decade, Novation has been designing some of the best controller keyboards on the market, and the recently released midi controller is undoubtedly one of the most robust and desirable controllers the company has designed to date. The matte black finish is similar to that of the Ableton push, while the rubber base gives the controller a reassuring solidity that the original didn’t possess.

The supplied USB and MIDI cables come in orange, which despite being a minor detail, definitely doesn’t go unnoticed, especially as most manufacturers won’t give you these cables for free. Finally, one of the standout features of the Novation Launchpad Pro is pad 64. Unlike the original, these pads are not only velocity sensitive, but also feel just like Ableton push pads.

Using Novation Launchpad Pro with FL Studio

Despite this, it was designed specifically for Ableton Live users; there are many people who use Launchpad together with other software. The newly updated FL Studio 12.0 has been designed with Launchpad support, which means it can fully support Novation Launchpad Pro without fail. One of the things that makes it work so effectively is that it is fully compatible with FL Studio 10.0 or higher. To start using Novation Launchpad Pro FL studio, first exit AutoMap from the taskbar or refrain from installing Automap. Connect Novation Launchpad via the provided USB cable. Novation Launchpad Pro FL Studio will automatically detect the device.

The final step is to make sure that Launchpad Pro has been enabled in the MIDI settings. It’s important to note that the new system uses the usual Launchpad settings; therefore, the user is not expected to change anything if they have a properly working Novation Launchpad configuration. Also, if users intend to use multiple Launchpads, then they are expected to use multiple instances of MIDI output set to different MIDI ports. If the user wants to share the project with other users, 115 is the default value. That said, despite the fact that the original far exceeded its intended purpose, the Pro version, along with its improved visual feedback and added features, will certainly surpass that.
