How to find a great yoga class

Finding a great yoga class is like finding a great arts school. A perfect arts school that has amazing teachers who are experienced in subjects related to your interest can make you a great artist, while an average school or a not-so-great school won’t be able to make you shine. So the question is how do you find that great yoga studio? Well, here are five tips that helped me find the perfect yoga studio for me.

  1. Try to find the best. So many different types of yoga, so many different types of studios and teachers. In fact, it seems like a general term to me. So one way to find the best class for you is to try several classes for a few days before choosing the one that looks best to you.
  2. Before leaving a class, try at least twice. Judging a class in one visit is not the right thing to do. You must take a class at least twice before judging it. A teacher may be trying something different than the first time he entered class, or he may be having a bad day. So never judge a class on a new visit.
  3. Find a class that is physically and mentally challenging, but is also not too difficult for you to be disinterested in attending. Yoga certainly works wonders in life, but only if it is practiced regularly! Your yoga class shouldn’t be miles from your home, making it difficult for you to get there. Try to find a class that gently helps you develop a habit, and then challenges you once you’ve established your own pattern.
  4. Commit to the class, but feel free to leave as well if it doesn’t seem appropriate to you. Sometimes the key to getting good at yoga is consistently showing up to the same yoga class for a week. Of course, commitment helps you learn faster. But at the same time, you should also understand if things are not working for you and ask for a change.
  5. If there isn’t a perfect fit for you, try this. Sometimes it may seem like no yoga class is perfect for you. And it can also be true, there is no doubt about it. Depending on where you live, there may not be enough yoga classes around you. Or even if there are enough classes, they may not align perfectly with your schedule, fitness, and other preferences. In such circumstances, you should choose the class that suits most of your requirements. Once you get involved with yoga, you will forget about the things that don’t line up properly between your yoga class schedule and your life. That is the point of yoga: it makes you forget the things that are not right and increases your concentration on positivity.
