Benefits of spinal bath and foot baths

There are several therapeutic hydrotherapy treatments and the two common among them are the spinal bath and foot baths (cold foot baths and hot foot baths). In this article you will learn the methods and benefits of spinal bath and foot baths. Both water baths have several health benefits and act as a natural healing process for many ailments.

Spinal bath

The spinal bath is performed in a special tub prepared for that purpose. This bath is done in hot, cold or neutral temperatures. The patient is made to lie down in a tub containing about two inches of water for about 10 to 15 minutes. This bath is used to calm the spinal cord and indirectly influences the central nervous system.

The spinal bath is also beneficial in hypertension, irritation, excitement and in almost all disorders of the nervous system, including mental illnesses such as hysteria, epilepsy, insomnia and insomnia. This should be done for about half an hour. When the nerves are depressed, the hot spinal bath is recommended. It is useful in back pain and pain due to vertebral disorders. It is beneficial in gastric disorders and sciatic pain where the patient feels pain along the sciatic nerve.

Cold foot bath

In the cold foot bath, the patient’s feet are soaked in a tub or bucket containing water at a temperature of 7 ° C to 12 ° C for approximately 5 to 10 minutes. The friction is usually done during the foot bath. The cold foot bath is not administered in conditions of inflammation of the liver, kidneys and genitourinary organs.

Hot foot bath

In the hot foot bath, the patient’s feet are soaked in a tub or bucket containing hot water for about 20 to 30 minutes. Your body must be properly covered so as not to lose heat. You need to shower after this treatment.

The hot foot bath activates the involuntary muscles of the body, especially the uterus, bladder, intestines, abdominal and pelvic organs. Eliminate sprains, ankle joint contractions, brain congestion and colds. Promotes menstruation.

Safety measures

1. These hydrotherapy treatments must be done 3 hours before meals.

2. The thermometer should be used to record the heat of the water during treatment.

3. Use clean, pure water for treatment.
